Gum Disease Treatment Available at Madison Family Dental
If you have periodontal disease, treatment is vitally important. Scaling and root planing is a highly effective gum disease treatment procedure offered here at Madison Family Dental in Madison, TN. Dr. Raj are firm believers in the mouth-body connection and gum disease screening is part of our regular check-up process here in our Madison Family Dental office. Other than prevention, early detection and thorough treatment is the best defense against gum disease.
Scaling and root planing involves deep cleaning of gum pockets. This is a non-surgical procedure that can be highly effective in stopping early periodontal disease from progressing.
Gum pockets can become toxic breeding grounds for bacteria that can destroy the teeth and gums as well as send infections into the bloodstream. If you get a gum disease diagnosis periodontal maintenance is also recommended, which involves more frequent screenings to ensure gum disease does not continue to progress.
Signs of gum disease can include bleeding gums, gum pain, and discoloration. But gum disease can be present before these symptoms appear. Gum disease can lead to pain and discomfort and eventual tooth loss. It can also increase your risk of certain types of cancers, can boost your chances of pregnancy complications, is linked to increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, causes complications for diabetics, and the list goes on.
Scaling and root planing offers you the opportunity to stop gum disease from robbing you of good oral health as well as shortening your life expectancy due to the systemic links associated with periodontitis.
