Help for TMJ is available from Madison Family Dental. TMJ, also known as TMD, stands for temporomandibular joint disorder. It can have periodic symptoms to ongoing chronic pain. It can be mild, moderate, or severe. It can definitely impact your quality of life and is most often exacerbated during times of stress. It also creates a vicious circle where stress causes jaw clenching that exacerbates the pain in the jaw. If you have TMJ symptoms, Dr. Raj of Madison Family Dental can help you find solutions. Book a consultation with us to find out the best way to stop TMJ from negatively affecting your life.
TMJ symptoms range from jaw clicking, jaw pain, jaw locking, ringing in the ears, headaches, and even neck and back pain. The way your body parts are interconnected means that TMJ can affect more than just your jaw. We use the jaw continuously. Talking, eating, clenching and because of that TMJ pain can be debilitating!
There are a variety of TMJ treatment options that range from jaw exercises and anti-inflammatory medications through to neuromuscular dentistry procedures involving equipment that helps find the optimal jaw position. Customized mouth guards worn at night can also make a difference to TMJ symptoms, too. The first step in overcoming TMJ is to meet with your Madison Family Dental for a consultation to assess your jaw.
